DOGS

Dogs are said to be man’s best friend. Dogs were the first domesticated species. Most modern families now adopt a special addition to their homes which in most cases are dogs. Dogs are very special to the human kind they serve a lot of purposes. Imagine living in a world that is free of dogs, where there are no breeds of dogs parading our streets, cuddling up to individuals in their homes, playing catch in the park with their owners, notifying people of when there is a guest at the door, removing any sense of loneliness when one is at home alone and entertaining us.dog-1212400_640

Dogs are loving animals, they are often kept in a kernel where they are fed and kept to sleep. Dogs are allowed to roam at their leisure. They engage in various activities such as eating, barking, cuddling, and running around chasing things or other nature animals such as butterflies. They are highly sensitive animals. They have 42 sets of teeth which are razor sharp and are used to tear their food. They are carnivorous in nature as they love meat but some old dogs eat grass.

Dogs usually bark to alert their owners and their barking could mean different things: like there is a guest, they see something, they are happy, or they are afraid.  Dogs are prone to diseases and could be attacked by parasites such as lice, ticks, ringworms, and heartworms if proper care is not taken. They possess a third eyelid which is at the corner of their eyes.

There are different dogs for different climates some have furs to withstand harsh cold weathers. In some countries, dogs are highly populated and are very engaged with their owners. Some dogs don’t grow so fast but some grow really fast. Some breeds of dogs could be as tall as a toddler child. Some could be really huge. Some dogs are thin and portable while some are fat. Some dogs look old and are not too agile. It is said that a one-year-old dog is as matured as a fifteen-year-old human.

A male dog is called a stud while a female dog is called a bitch. The young ones of a dog are called a puppy and dog could have as many pops as possible. A group of puppies is known as a litter so also a group of adult dogs is called a pack. The process of giving birth is called whelping. On an average, dogs produce an average of about six puppies, some others 2 to 4 puppies, while some others could give birth to about 12. Just like human beings, they are able to feed their little ones. They nurse their puppies until they are fully matured.

There are many breeds of dogs all over the world and dogs serve different purposes. Dogs are very smart animals and they communicate based on how they are feeling at different points, for instance, they wag their tails when they have seen dinner and are excited about it. They also drool too at the sight of food. Dogs tend to do different things as they grow:

Dogs have been in existence for a very long time. They fill the earth with diversity and are very useful to man. Dogs have a great sense of smell which enables them to assist during wars. They are also used as war instruments for detection of war materials, to locate criminal objects through their sense of smell, to help fight some ground wars, to track people, and to detect bombs that might be dangerous. They are very much used in the military, they also serve as security dogs in some high-security institutions such as prisons, factories, containers that have valuables and need a high level of security. They are often vicious to people they are not conversant with. They often easily sense fear and are always ready to attack.

Dogs could also be very domestic, they would just stay at home taking strolls with their owners, receiving guests, cuddling, sleeping, eating, pampering, and enjoying good grooming and care.

Wild dogs, on the other hand, live in the wild. They are usually not trained or groomed. They could be very dangerous. Individuals are warned to stay off them because they could be very vicious.

The world portrays all dogs to very loving and nice at all times but there are always cases where they could be dangerous. I have witnessed an attack by a dog. It happened because the person in question was only just frightened about the raging animal, I mean it was brutal. The dog attacked the individual relentlessly. It was a painful sight. Immediate medical attention was needed because a bite is very harmful and can kill a human being if not properly treated.

Dogs are known to have great senses. They could sense an earthquake a day before it happens. They show signs of fear by always going under tables or chairs. This could also serve a form of warning to their owners. It is proper to always understand the actions of dogs because they could save humans a great deal. They always communicate in the best way possible to humans.

There are over 151 different breeds of dogs. In most cases, different dogs are brought together to mate in order to produce a unique breed. Sometimes, owners could mate two dogs of the same breed together in order to produce a common dog or could selectively breed a breed of dog with that of a different ancestral line. Inbreeding is breeding dogs of the same line. For the love of variety, one can easily bring two different breeds of dogs together.

Some dogs are of a very rare breed, some are very common, some are best for certain climates, some are very traditional, some are new and very under developed. There is a body governing dogs namely Federation Cynological Internationale (FCI).

There are a lot of developed foundations now associated with dogs where rights of dogs are protected and homeless dogs are put into shelters where they can be safe and loved. Dogs who have some form of deformity are catered for and provided with limbs. The foundations help to cater for dogs that have been abandoned or are lost. They give them to homes for someone who would care for the dogs.

Veterinarians are responsible for the care of dogs and they ensure the total well-being of dogs. They are in charge of ensuring that the dog is healthy and sane. They vaccinate the dogs regularly and engage the dogs in regular exercises. They engage them in things that strengthen them and makes them less prone to infections or diseases.

Dogs are very cute animals and you can see the love that people have for them in this century. They involve them a lot in their lifestyles. You can always find them on social media selfies and all.

In all things in life, there are good reasons for things and also bad reasons for things. Dogs make people smile but also make people fearful. In life, there would always be a contrast. That is what makes this life very interesting and worthwhile. Dogs are blessings, to me. I can’t imagine the world without dogs and it would feel like losing a best friend. Dogs, as the saying goes, are man’s best friend.soldier-919202_640
